At the end of the day we want EU standards for habitat, for clean air and water, as a minimum. Both sides may have muddied the waters here, and we've not yet seen the legislation the Lords deride as a “toothless imitation of the powers currently exercised by the European Commission to intervene and compel”. If there's even a hint of weight to the accusation, then the Government will have failed to match or improve these standards post-Brexit.
