The Fawley proposal currently includes building 120 homes in the National Park on a Site of Importance to Nature Conservation SINC, a coastal grazing marsh adjacent to but not part of the Power Station site. Sticking a total of 1500 homes at the bottom of the A326 cul de sac will exacerbate traffic problems, and also lead to greater road use across the Forest on some of the most animal accident prone routes, this does not take into account the other strategic sites near Marchwood.
We object to the current proposal as building on a SINC within a National Park and the scale of the rest of the development alongside NFDC's broader plans are unacceptable. This is a part of NFDC's Local Plan to build 10,500 homes within the district over 10 years, by their own estimate 3-4 fold increase in the rate of new houses. 13 of 20 Strategic sites are on green belt (including Blashford Meadows which the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust object directly next to their nature reserve Blashford Lakes). The plans will result in between 1 and 2 million additional visitor days per year on the Forest. ... See MoreSee Less
