Whilst the current lot doesn't intrude on the Forest, there have been attempts in the past (Denney Wood etc). In similar exploitation worries, one of our local MPs voted to allow fracking under National Parks (there is a potential fracking area in Dorset that extends east toward the Forest at Thorney Hill).
