The Friends of the New Forest (FoNF) are currently seeking new members for their Habitats and Landscape committee. This will provide a great opportunity for dedicated individuals to contribute to long-term protection of the special qualities of the Forest, including its wildlife and cultural heritage, and to benefit from being part of an experienced committee.![]()
As an independent charity that is over 150 years old, the FoNF plays an important role providing both support and appropriate challenge to land managers and statutory bodies responsible for managing the New Forest. Committee members provide a wide range of ecological and conservation experience with the aim of furthering our collective vision and agenda, which can be viewed here:![]()

The committee members are expected to attend four meetings per year, which are relatively informal and mostly online, but will include one or two field meetings in summer, and to engage in regular email discussion in response to consultations and other business.![]()
So, if you are passionate about the ecology and conservation of the New Forest and would like to contribute to its future protection, then please consider joining us. This opportunity is open to anyone of any age with relevant ecology and conservation experience, and we particularly welcome enquiries from those actively involved in New Forest commoning.![]()
