Engagement With Forest Organisations

Protecting the New Forest depends on people and organisations working together. No single body can safeguard its habitats, commoning traditions, wildlife, landscape and cultural heritage alone.

The New Forest is cared for, managed, and influenced by many organisations: public bodies, land managers, commoners, conservation charities, parish councils, NGOs, schools, businesses, researchers, as well as the Commoners Defence Association, the New Forest Biodiversity Forum, and the New Forest Trust.

The New Forest Association works with others to support better decisions, stronger protection and more effective action. We share evidence, raise concerns, contribute to consultations and help keep the Forest’s long-term interests in view.

Collaboration matters, but so does independence. We will support good ideas, encourage practical action, and build partnerships that benefit the Forest. We will also challenge decisions, policies or proposals that risk damaging its habitats, landscape, commoning traditions or special character.

We value the knowledge and commitment of local groups, volunteers and Friends of the New Forest. They often see changes first, raise concerns early and help keep attention focused on the Forest’s needs.

The Forest cannot speak for itself. By working with others, while keeping our independent voice, we help build the movement needed to protect it.

Join us and help strengthen the network of people and organisations working for the New Forest.
